Frames
Wood CertificationAll Precedent frames are made from wood that has been grown in the US and certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). SFI in an independent, third-party organization who certifies that the wood has been grown and harvested in a responsible manner. SFI certification requires that growers take necessary steps to keep our streams clean, prevent soil erosion, encourage reforestation, and protect wildlife. SFI certification assures consumers that the wood products they are buying do not contribute to the destruction of the worlds forestlands.
Formaldehyde Content
Precedent frames emit very low levels of formaldehyde. The frames are constructed of engineered hardwood, which incorporates adhesives that contain phenol formaldehyde. Phenol formaldehyde is released at far lower levels than urea formaldehyde, which is used in the manufacture of some upholstered furniture. Our frame material is so low in formaldehyde emissions that it is exempt from all testing and certification requirements. Formaldehyde levels for Precedent frames is less than 0.1 parts per million, well below the maximum set by CARB (California Air Resources Board).
